Boot gas struts

    Hi,

One of the gas struts in the boot of my liftback Avensis is after giving up the ghost, heard it hissing yesterday.
Do I need to replace both struts or only the 1 that's gone?
Also, would a motor factors have them or is there some company that would specialise in gas rams/struts?

    Thanks

For something like that you are as well going to a breakers or eBay, i doubt the are available as a spurious part.

The ones in a breakers yard would be on the way out too, even a tractor spares place might have them would they not?

You just need to replace one but they are usually cheap so may as well get two, the other will probably give up soon.
I got some in a motor factors but you can check on ebay/amazon.

Note, I didn't replace them until the hatch wouldn't stay up by itself.

I got a set on Ebay, were around £30-£35 delivered for a pair, easy to fit just a clip to remove.

I ordered a pair from this company. I can get 2 struts delivered from the UK for the price of 1 here!
As soon as they arrive I'll be fitting them, boot is very heavy even with one strut gone.
