Yeah Paint was so simple and handy for that.

    F*ckin microgimps.

I'm genuinely quite annoyed about this.

I haven't used Windows in a few years but Paint was something that Microsoft actually did right. It's simple and easy to use.

Your Paint skills need work; that doesn't even look like a middle finger!

Paint.net was pretty good last time I used it.

I still use paintshop pro 4 which was once a favourite freebie on computer magazine cover CDs. Its basic compared to things like gimp but it's quick and effective as an editor.

Aw. I used to love drawing random shapes and filling them with colour. Haven't used a Windows computer in about 10 years though.

Remember that thread where people described their first sexual experience using MS Paint... :pac:

Now what am I going to paste my screenshots into before saving them as a bitmap and embedding them in a word doc to send as an attachment with no accompanying text?

    Who is Ms Paint?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

What are they going to replace it with? Probably some driverless AI thing that's hosted in the cloud and decides what it wants to paint for you and requires a monthly subscription fee

The thing is, the XP version didn't have some of the functionality of the original version, e.g. invert colours.

You could have an old junker in the corner that multi boots to any OS you want and you could install every legacy program your heart desires.
    Yes, even solitaire.

Windows Snipping Tool is a handy alternative to screenshoting and copying to Paint.

Yet they keep running IE despite the endless misery it creates while paint has fostered nothing but decades of joy.

Snipping tool - built into Windows and works a treat for screenshots.

Actually what was paint ever used For? :pac:

Apart from pasting screenshots as others have said was there any other purpose?
I remember messing around with it when I got the first pc at 18. Then quickly getting bored.
After that I tried to make up graphics but then had to switch to photoshop or illustrator to really achieve what I wanted.

I always assumed it was something for kids to mess around with :p

I got that CD too, and have been using it since 1998. The "free trial" never ended... :)

Paint is a standalone executable in Windows XP, just grab it off an old machine and stick it on yours.
