I think the last two times, the vet did it for nothing, but it was only one bull each time.
I think we were herd TB testing both times.

I do them myself- it's actually a really easy job with a vice grips- had to do about 20 this spring- trick is to do them before they are 15 months old

Visit cost €55. 3x rings @ €10 each. Abd vets time. Next time you have some to be done I will do them for €80 😊

Curious do you mean callout fees; professional fees- scanning, examining animal, hoof paring, dehorning etc; tb testing fees; drug costs???

In my practice have done nothing with our professional fees but have passed on all the drug price increases over the last while. In the next month are going to be looking closer at our costs in providing our services- cost of staff, diesel, disposables- gloves, syringes, rates, waste disposal etc. These have all escalated in the last few years. If we don't make some money we will not be around to offer a service.

On a side note do the majority of vets give itemised bills or are some still just giving you a total without breaking it down?

    Thanks for any answers

Always itemised bills from my vets. Get bi-monthly invoices. I always pay promptly and get great service. No problem with rates. I wouldn't be a big customer either and am 15 miles from the clinic.

I'm always heard that you should not put a ring on your own bull as he may remember you and the pain !

Itemised bill and pay by direct debit. They have an online thing I can log into as well

Fully itemised monthly bill including prescription reference numbers. Discount on bulk orders (eg vaccines) and on the day payment (eg testing). Our Vet is an integral member of our business and we work closely with her. Money spent on prevention is better than the financial loss (thrive) when illness strikes and that is one of her recommendations that we took on board years ago.
