my husband is planning on giving up his job. we are hoping he can go on jobseekers benefit for a short while. is it possible for me to still claim all his tax credits if he is claiming job seekers benefit?

Benefit is taxable but low enough it never effects you personally. Not sure how it effects your partner. If your claiming their tax credits it's based on their circumstances no? Not their employment

I would be claiming his tax credits because he is unemployed. but maybe if he is on jsb he needs his tax credits. I really don't know how it works.

Well he wouldn't need them while he's on jb as the amount earned is below is tax band even without credits. But I don't know can you chop and change credits a few times a year so if he gets a job again could that effect you ?

I'd give revenue a call if I where you. Keep in mind if he leaves his job he could be subject to a 9 week disallowance from jobseekers.
