Just wondering if anyone else had this problem today...I bought tickets online at gaa.ie for my Déise in-laws and paid full price. When they got to the seats - 212 row C - they couldn't see a good part of the pitch.
They complained and were moved to seats on the half way line.
Two points...how can a new stadium have seats without a view???? Sold out stand had plenty of empty seats for the people who had to be moved....all week we were told the stadium was sold out but crowd was poor both days...I was there Sat and empty seats in both stands.
Gaa should not charge full price for these seats and we should be told online they're restricted view.

Do you mean section 312? 212 would be premium level

don't see why they didn't put a bit of a curve on the main stand - break it into 4/5 sections and step back the middle two to improve the sightlines

Sorry ...section 312. Just seems a really bad design for a brand new stand. Should be told when booking...

They have been getting away with the same crap in Croke Park for donkeys years. I was caught out, when I bought seats in rows JJ unawares. They have the same thing going on. Unless you are very, very tall and you can look over the barrier, a lot of the pitch is blocked from view. If they've been chancing their arms there and getting away with it, for as long as they have, I wouldn't be holding my breath that the Pairc will see the error of their ways & change their ticketing set up.

No, there were no more stand tickets available on line and people assumed this meant it was a sell out, two entirely different things!

People didn't assume it was a sell out. They were told the stands were sold out. On Friday the GAA's website and twitter page said that both stands were sold out with the exception of some premium level tickets.

Sold out online, tickets were still with the clubs of the participating counties, some of which were subsequently returned.

Can't imagine too many club tickets sent back from Wexford or Waterford.....not sure about Tipp or Clare.
Not living in any of the counties so don't have any personal knowledge.

They did not differentiate. They said sold out.

Your in-laws didn't happen to take a photo of their view by any chance?
It'd be good to see so as to avoid for the future.

What's the restriction for Row JJ?
Is it beside the entrance/exit to the back of the stand?

Also in Croke Park there is a bit of a restricted view if you are in the very back rows of the Lower Hogan. You can't see the ball/sliotar if it's high in the air due to the ceiling. Minor issue really and there are numerous TV screens as well to look at.

Also in the Upper Davin around Section 523/524 (I think), the back of the big screen can be a bit of an annoyance.

You can get 'restricted view' tickets in the Aviva. They are at the very back of the upper decks. You can still see the whole pitch though.

JJ is the first row of the back half of the Lower Hogan. The tunnel is directly in front of you. There is big metal barrier separating the seats from the steps that the people coming in from the tunnel, enter the stand by. The horizontal barrier is similar to the one in the pic on page 1. I can't remember if the barrier goes all the way across the entire row of seats, or just the ones directly in front of tunnel entrance (where we were sitting,) but it defintely blocked our view from the seats we were in.

I know where you are on about.

It doesn't go all the way across the entire row of seats thankfully

I have witnessed arguments before where the stewards at those entrances/exits end up blocking the view of people sitting around rows JJ/JJ/LL. Those stewards generally claim (in my experience) that they need to stand there so to do their job properly, but in reality they just want a better view of the match

Complete bawlocks. They are supposed to stand at the top of the steps, so as to direct people towards their seats (and check for chungwans trying to sneak the demon drink in,) NOT block the view of people already IN their seats.

Yep, they are the barriers I was talking about. Good luck to anyone stuck behind one.

I appreciate its a little disingenous on their part but they are talking about public sale tickets and not those circulated to the clubs.

I was merely replying to the original post that wondered how there was empty seats even though it was announced as a sell out, and the reasons for that are as a i have explained. I'm not saying its the right or wrong way to do things but that is the explanation.
