    Hey

Not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post this, mods please move if incorrect.

I have a major problem with silverfish in the house.
Im killing about 10 to 20 of them a night.
Ive tried sprays and diatomaceous earth but they have proven ineffective.

My sister in New Zealand suggested using bug bombs. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with these and whether they were effective or not. As far as I can see there is only one company in Ireland selling them.

Also if anyone has any suggestions on getting rid of these awful things, it would be most appreciated.

    G.

    http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/doff-ant-killer-powder---400g-408556
sprinkle it into the corners and joints between skirting and floor leave couple of days then hover up contains permethrin which is insecticide

+1 for this. Very effective. Although I do reckon it's impossible to totally get rid of silverfish.

I had a problem with these a few weeks back, was finding them all over the apartment. I put down an Ant Powder with permethrin in it that I got from Dealz which seemed to have done the trick (found a few dead ones in the hall & bathroom). Two weeks later the powder is still down but noticed one (seemed like an adult one) on my bedroom wall and another scurry across the bedroom carpet.......im freaked out now that they're back. I've bought two bottles of Doff ant killer powder today and plan on hovering the apartment and laying down a new batch of this stuff tonight.
I know they are harmless but I'd rather not have them in my bedroom.....

I could be wrong, but I think I read/heard that they appear because of damp.
Maybe try addressing whatever is causing them to appear.

Not necessarily harmless. They'll eat anything with starch in it e.g. paper, books, plaster etc.

You need to find the source of where they are coming from, usually damp of some sort as has been said above, that's why you often see them in a down-stairs toilet. I had a few of them before in a downstairs toilet, was never able to figure out where they were coming from till i went to replace the sink and found that the waste pipe was only 32mm and the socket was 40mm. Never saw one after i fixed that.
