Certainly looks that way. Listen to the last minute of last Sunday's show on listen back.

Cormac only said "we won't" in a jokingly fashion. I'd imagine they're back next week.

You could be right, looking at the website it also says c&c sit in for Rick. Would be strange for them to say that if they were not returning.

With Chris & Ciara doing Rick o' Shea's weekend timeslot today is it the end of Ricks time in 2fm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 707 ✭✭✭seabee

He tweeted a few weeks ago that he would have some big radio news "tomorrow" that he was excited about, but it was later deleted...

Dan Healy has shown the door to Colm Hayes & Ruth Scott this year so Rick o Shea could be the next man on his list for the ax

And replaced by an attractive female who has appeared on TV in her underwear, if what one of the posters put is to be believed.

This is Rick's 3rd weekend in a row off the air so is it the end for him?

He is probably on gardening leave. Conor Behan is presenting the show today. Carlow's hottest export since Richie Kavanagh :-)

All of those young weekend filler-ins on 2FM sound exactly the same, I can't tell one from the other, bland as magnolia paint.

Ricochet is a dose but at least he's somewhat distinctive.

    Surely you meant Kathryn Thomas

From what I have heard he is moving to RTE Lyric next month, note how he changed his social media from works @ 2fm to works @ RTE radio

    We don't know yet.

    We don't know yet.

I posted on the Chris and Ciara daytime show thread that they haven't done their own show in nearly a month and now with Rick o shea supposed to be moving to lyric. Could we be seeing a shake up of the weekend schedule on 2fm ?

Does Dan Healy have the power to remove Dave Fanning & Larry from the weekend lineup?

Yes but Larry isn't going anywhere until he wants to go himself, Fanning might be put back on Radio 1

Hector, Colm Hayes & Ruth Scott are the 3 people that Dan Healy showed the door to, is Will Leahy next on his list?

Hector didn't want to move to Dublin, Colm got a job in a media production company before becoming PD at Nova and I'm not sure why Ruth Scott left but do know she's on Nova now.

Let's see, out of the Hayes-Fanning-O'Shea-Gogan-Scott-Leahy lineup:
    Colm Hayes: Gone
    Dave Fanning: Still there
Rick O'Shea: Seems to be gone
    Larry Gogan: Still there
    Ruth Scott: Gone
    Will Leahy: Still there

Three out of six ain't bad, I guess.

I noticed that the repeat of Dan Hegertys 2xm program is back at a 10pm slot in place of c&c

So basically DH does two shows in a row on 2FM now?

Been hearing a rumour that C&C are taking over the drivetime show from September. EMD's current contract does expire this year. So if they are being lined up to replace him it makes sense that they are not doing the night shows now.

Cormac Battle flying solo this morning.

This must be Ricks longest ever time off air ? I don't get why the secret, he's only heading to the booth next door to the 2fm studios.

He is a wonderful broadcaster, it's a disgrace that today fm didn't poach him for the lunchtime show

Well I don't think his contract had run out yet. It seems to have now.

He has been pretty quiet on Twitter recently

His voice is rather annoying. Silly intonation with a fake deep tone

How long is it going to take for us to find out what's happening to Rick ? He is such a super broadcaster, the soundtrack to my youth, I used to be a regular on famous for 15 seconds

Eoghan's show is a bit too SJW, he bangs on about Trump a little too much. I like Chris and Ciara. Chris has a bit of the grumpy old man about him which i can relate too..

It is likely that his contract has expired and he has chosen not to renew it.

Rick had presented almost every shift on 2fm over the past 16 and a half years, what do you think was his best work? I think it was his original late night shows and in 2006, he had a brief stint at 6pm doing a kind of a talk show which was very good.

This is absolutely disgusting behaviour from the national public service broadcaster, taking long serving djs off air without telling listeners what's going on. You wouldn't see this happening at the BBC, even Today fm & Newstalk are far more transparent with their schedules than RTE.

Are you an axed 2fm DJ by any chance? You seem to be unnaturally outraged by it all.
