....to get laid if you went to an all male/female secondary school?

Inspired by my rather innocuous answer on a locked thread. I went to an all male national/secondary school. My entire school life was spent with lads during my schooldays in the 70s/80s. Grand if you were gay and also a fooking nightmare if you were gay, due to the blatant homophobic but accepted ignorance back then. But from a straight viewpoint, I spent my secondary school years working very hard to get laid, where as lads in mixed schools, even in the 80s had the opportunity on tap in the classroom.

Have things changed since then? Are there more mixed social outlets? Does social media make a difference and the web in general? Basically, is being in an all male/female secondary school a barrier to getting laid in this day and age?

The 1970s and 1980s. If you are trying to be funny, its not working. We are on boards. Not in Court Conor. You are old enough. What's your story? How was it in Kerry back in the 80s?:D

Are you asking if it's easier for male or female teenagers to get laid?

Read the OP. Read it 1 million times if thats what it takes to understand it. Holy ****! Are Friday nights, dumb nights around here?? I've seen a lot of really stupid questions around here leading to a laugh and actual decent answers. I'm almost ready to give up, but I wait some posters who understand the question posed.

    Are you still at school?

    Ah! On holidays so.

OP is a bit of a stream of consciousness, of course it's more difficult to get laid as a heterosexual person if you spend most of your time amongst your own gender, especially in Ireland in the 1970's and 1980's.

    Glazers Out!

Had you actually cared to read my post you'd notice that age wise I'm not exactly too far behind you.

What's with the anger? Did you not get laid in school or something?

Back in the 1970/80's kids were as forward or clued up as they are now, but god knows what a mixed school today would be like.

Bad humour this evening? My secondary school days ended in 1962. A whole different era to yours. 5 students sat the Leaving Cert and 2 the Matriculation in my school that year.

The notion from a grown man, 30+ years out of School, just seemed infantile to me.

But I'm just a grumpy old beggar.

    Ah an analyst.

No anger whatsoever. Chilled to fook. I think I picked the wrong night to start the thread. Work night for me and obviously all thats left here tonight are jokers. But thats cool too.

    No.

Contrary to popular opinion, if you went to an all male/all female school you weren't actually prohibited from meeting the opposite sex outside of the school.

Went to a mixed school in the 90's and yes all the kissing fingering and fcuking was a distraction but when that bell rang at nine we all settled down and studied

Or else it's a sh*te thread and people are rightly taking the piss out of it.

I went to both all girls and mixed. The girls in the mixed school were no more likely to be sexually active than those in the girls school from what I knew. I don't think it made any difference from a female perspective anyway.

From a female perspective I had friends outside of school so that's how I met boys but I definitely think my male friend pool was reduced due to being in an all-girls school. I'm bi-sexual but didn't encounter any girls open about their sexuality in school (I doubt I was open then either) so while I did have a girlfriend at 15, I didn't meet her in school. I always wanted to go to a mixed school imagining all of the rampant riding going on but my missus is German and most schools there are mixed, she informs me that the girls just realise how silly the boys are laughing at their own farts and it acts as a deterrent if anything.

I went to an all-girls school but always had plenty of male friends. I had more after school because of the area I went into, and then I'd find myself craving the company of a female friend, still haven't got the balance right but hopefully will soon. I'd love a female friend near me, all my closest girlfriends are on another continent and I'm stuck with smelly boys.

Some of the girls at school would have had you believe they were very knowing in their mid-teens, but I don't know how much of it I'd believe. I hadn't a clue about boys in my teens and was a latecomer to the party, if the stories others tell can be trusted.

Didn't lose my virginity and start the relationships malark until college+ and bloody glad of it tbh, whether it was due to going to an all-girls school or not. I was fiercely innocent at that age, sure why would you need to be riding all round you? You'll spend the rest of your life trying to get laid/dealing with heartache from someone you got laid with/trying to live with someone that's laying you regularly. The odd arse grab at a disco or "will you shift my friend" down the local tennis club was about it for me back then.

I strongly dislike the expression 'getting laid' or variations of. It reminds me of eggs and I don't like eggs.

I agree. The correct phrase is "to get one's hole".

What about outside school or was it just the uniform you were into?

I'm a fella and went to an all-boys school, but the girls school was at our same bus stop so harmless things happened but I would never have "got laid" in secondary school. Was happy enough to wait til college and no matter how much I liked a girl in secondary, I would never have even considered going that far. I even got asked indirectly by a girl on our bus and thought it was insane, she was 16, I was 17.
It just seemed like something you dont do at that age. Probably the way I was brought up.

1st year of college for me. And even then it was a really nice relationship that had gone on for months and then eventually... But that's how it should be imo.
Screwing in secondary school is miles away from being ok. In my own opinion.

Agreed. I was very innocent too, and it may well be that innocence talking but I really don't think most people in my year were getting laid even in leaving cert. The few in relationships, yes, the few super popular kids, yes, the lads in the bands, yes. But there was 150 in my year and if 20 of them were getting laid I'd have been surprised. The lads in bands were definitely riding 4th years, I remember the few girls they were hanging round. But the rest of the fifth years, plenty of groping and shifting but that's all.

I could be totally wrong, though, there might have been orgies out the back of the disco every friday night in third year and I wouldn't have had a notion.

Either way, I'm happy with how things went for me. Definitely a late bloomer but better for it.
