    Anybody know much about Haltcliffe Underwriter? Some impressive sons going back a few years and links to Broadmeadows herd so the breeding should be there to produce excellent calves. Would it be an upgrade on Neuf in your opinions?

    From your other post;
    Anyone on this thread got any experience of Haltcliffe Underwriter? Assessing a stock bull and he's on the maternal side, Castleview Gringo on the paternal side. Looks very good but I'd like any insights. Thanks.

    No expert but I do have a purebred Nuef cow and she is the best cow I have. I heard a well known Lim breeder say once that 'all lim breeders loved their Nuef cows'.

    I checked the Limousin database and there are only 2 bulls matching the breeding above (GWO x S553). The older bull, born Nov 2014, if that's him has very poor figures for docility and milk. You'd want milk if breeding replacements and a a one star docility lim bull is an accident waiting to happen. I had a one star docility pedigree lim cow here before and I had to cull her before she killed someone.

    And don't let the breeder convince you his bull is very quiet even though his figures are poor. He could well be quiet but his docility will still come out in his calves from his back breeding.

    Thanks very much for going to that effort. The Nuef bull is 2009 and was bought to run with replacements from the other bull. He's a great bull throwing excellent calves (albeit a lot of heifers) but he's very excitable and hard to trust. We're talking about getting him away and this bull has come up.
    The next bull terminal will be the main priority and replacements as always will be chosen from the most suitable and milkiest cows I'd prefer if the new bull had an even decent milk score but not the most important aspect.
    The docility aspect is a bit more concerning seeing as that's the main reason for changing. This bull wouldn't be 2014 born.
    Can you send me a link to the database please?

    Thank you. Just as I got the notification I found those areas on the database. I'm a bit new to this.
    He must be that 2016 Male (the other one) so there are no figures for him. I suppose it's not a brilliant sign that the full brother has such poor docility scores. Even the female has similar negative issues.
    Are you interpreting that from the figures that are there? I see no information on the traits tab.

    If there's no information on the limousin database, just enter the bulls name or tag into The ICBF database on the link above.

    This thing is great. I just looked up Neuf himself. Poor docility score himself but other scores are very good. Explains a lot about this bull - Stramatt Eoin if you're curious.

    Patsy I was trying to send you a message yes not too sure why they weren't coming up for you. I was wondering if you know any ways to trace lim bulls from NI? I want to check the lines of a bull. Thanks!

    Click on 'Taurus Online Herdbook' on the top right hand side.
