    Hey folks,

The aul fella is looking to invest in a new welder he'd have a budget of no more than €800 if possible he'd be using it for different jobs which could range from welding a gate right up to welding a digger ram so he'd looking for something fairly reliable any help would be appreciate cheers.

Depends on how portable he needs it to be, would it be used outside of a workshop doing mobile repairs? Does he already have gas for a MIG machine? The gas can get pricey if you're not using it all that often and if you have to buy it to start off you are looking at the guts of 200 euro alone. Rental on the gas would work out cheaper but only if he'd be using it a lot.

As a starting point have a look at RTech in the uk, i think they have a great selection of machines,

Ideally it would want a set of wheels at the most for handyness.. mobile repairs could be expected so I couldn't rule that out.. jesus didn't know that we've never had anything like that around the place before.. he said it himself he wouldn't like to spend alot of money on something that might spend alot of its time laying up.

A modern stick welder would meet all those requirements and they are very nice to use, think your budget is probably good enough to get a really good quality machine and Id say you really dont need to spend so much. A mig doesnt work outside in the wind without using flux cored wire which is very poor .
