Buying an ex-taxi car - road tax

I'm buying an ex taxi car this week.
The car still has a good few months of road tax left but I'm wondering if taxis have private motor tax or is it commercial?
And is there something else I should do after I buy an ex taxi car ?

Take off the hackney sign off the roof.

I think taxis have a very cheap motor tax rate?

I wonder if all the taxi stuff will be removed ?
Like the meter, stickers and radio?

Have you tried asking whoever you are buying it from?

It's my boyfriend's friends friend I'm buying it from. He doesn't know anything about it apart from the model, year and colour of the car.
The price I'm paying is like 2000e cheaper than the market value so I didn't ask a lot of questions.

From what I understand, once ownership is transferred to a private individual and private motor tax then the PSV tax no matter how long is left on it, becomes invalid and it needs to be taxed privately.

As far as I know you need to fill in form RF111 and change it to Private as NEW TAX CLASS/BASIS OF ASSESSMENT...

    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF111_en.pdf

I am unsure what happens with the current taxi tax on it whether that will get refunded to you or not.

Don't mix asking prices on websites to market value.
Condition of car and especially the mileage will give true market value.

I have a 520d, 2012. Average online price is about €20k, but I have almost 300k km and it needs some items replacing soon, so real market value is well under 10k

I'm getting a 2010 passat CC, excellent condition inside and outside. My friend is a mechanic and he regularly checked the car. New tyres, flywheel and breaks all new
The dpf filter done recently. Car has been checked twice now to make sure it's good.
I'll be paying 3300e euro for it.
The only 'problem' is the mileage which is about 350000km
I was told high mileage in diesel cars isn't a bad sign.
Most passats or mondeos have 300000+ km on the clocks

    I think I'm getting a good deal

Sounds like a fair enough price to be honest

350000km taxi - its about right price, certainly not 2k under.

5c per km depreciation over average would be my workings. Its about 200000 km over average, so if reg 2010 is worth €10-12k then you have fair value.

If he sent this to auction he'd be lucky to get €1500-2000.

    Wouldn't a 2010 cc usually go for about 13-14k?

€3300 is a great price. I'd be cautious but to be fair it's not a lot of money to lose.

Taxi tac can't be used by you.

Make sure there's no finance on it.
