I always use the keyless entry with my Prius, and visually confirm the doors are locked - I assume they're talking about jamming traditional remote central locking, as you need to be within arm's reach of the car for keyless entry to work anyway?

One thing I noticed with the Leaf: How do you confirm the doors are locked? I couldn't see any sort of indication on the inside of the doors (e.g. physical lock lever moving). I saw some flashing red light on the instrument cluster but that was on before locking the doors (alarm or immobiliser light?). When using keyless entry it's not so easy to see the indicator lights flashing.

Traditional method... Pull the handle and see if it's locked. We usually lock with in handle button then do a quick check. Should be safe enough
