Since it's a lieback I wouldn't worry about which type of straw is used as moisture will be draining to the tank. My personal preference for bedding straw is wheaten.

Have to disagree on wheaten. Buy a hundred or two of each barley and wheaten every year and the wheaten straw would require twice as much as the barley for bedding., great for feeding in feeder but for bedding it just doesn't have the soakage. Also it breaks very easily so carrying any amount on a pike is a balls

Buy a bit of straw here too both for bedding and feeding. Imo once you have a base it really doesn't matter which straw you use, I think wheaten breaks down faster in dungstead. However, if selling I bed calves/weanlings with barley or oaten as the brighter colour straw makes the cattle look better.
Edit: the price difference between barley and wheaten also has to be considered.

It's not fantastic but it's better than wheaten. It's a bit of a all rounder. Fantastic feeding straw, average bedding straw.

Wheaten is grand to fire into a diet feeder but other than that I think you'd want to get it for next to free.

Allot of lads forget to ask if it's sprayed off with round-up. When it's sprayed off it goes to chaff, pure scutter. Stuff that's not sprayed off is worth a euro or two extra no bother.

I heard sprayed off straw is more digestible? But I'd say time is nearly up on this.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Possibly more digestible but not anywhere near as good for bedding.

Older generation here would love to see a good bit of green in straw, great for feeding. Hardly first crop silage but just their opinion.
