I got a new TV and there are many satellites available to choose from such as Eutelsat hotbird 13e, Turksat 42.0e etc.
I am getting mostly non-english channels.
    Freeview sat is not listed.
I am wondering which Sat will give me the best english channels?

You probably need to select astra 28.2

    Where is your dish pointing?
Is it a newly installed dish, or are you using an old sky dush, that was working fine for sky tv?

    28.2E

    is the UK channels.

Deselect the other ones you have already selected and do an auto scan on 28.2E

When I selected 28.2E it shows 0% Signal Strength and 0% signal quality. Picture attached.

I have just moved to this apartment. There is a SAT input on the wall so i just inserted the cable there.

    Any way to fix this?
I don't have any set top box except android box.

It could be pointed to Hotbird if the previous tenants were from countries like Poland or Italy. Can you list some of the channels you found.

Yes hotbird is giving good strength and signal. and i had like over 100 polish channels. I have removed hotbird.
I am thinking to get indoor aerial now as I don't know where the dish is.

You must already have tried the 'TV' socket on the wall plate then?

Issue is i dont have the aerial cable to connect to the TV socket on the wall.
I got Sat cable for 6e from Argos today and it is going to be wasted.

Take it back and get a refund or credit note

Would they take it back? It's open but i have original packing.
What reason can i give for return?

Maybe that you bought the wrong one? If the packaging is damaged they most likely won't take it back. Tv cables are cheap, just buy the correct one in dealz for €1.49 and hang onto the one you opened. If you bought that telly surely €6 quid isn't gonna break the bank.

Get an aerial cable as well as the Sat cable ...... sockets on the wall for both, so you can likely use both when you have things sorted out.

    They cost very little .......

Maybe 28 east is on the system too, & just needs the TV's DiSEqC settings configured? Or I suppose there could even be different feeds to each socket: did you try both?

Also possible there is no aerial, & the 'TV' socket won't give you a signal. By the looks of that plate, you'll need a cable with a female connector one end, & male on the other or, failing that, a male/male cable + female/female connector, if you want to try it.

This is what I am getting under DiSEqC. Picture attached. Anything to be done here to get signal?

2nd SAT socket is not giving any satellite.i tired both.

Yea i feel TV socket may not give me any signals thats why i thought of getting indoor aerial.

    A huge thanks to Thurston!

I changed DiSEqC settings to "Tone Burst B" and TV started showing 70% strength signal and it has found 125 programmes already on the search. Please see the pic attached.

Looks like I am going to keep the Sat Cable and no need to return it.

    Happy days xox
