Firebird won't fire

I've a Firebird 115 with a riello burner, it's about 20 years old at this stage. We ran out of oil a while back. So new oil in, and it won't fire up. I bled it as usual but now all I can hear is a buzzing sound when I hit the reset button which i assume that's the electric starter. But the fan doesn't go at all like it would normally and then it would fire up. Any ideas or should I get someone who know what they are doing...?

Capacitor or seized pump would be my guess.
I don't like to hear "bled it as usual". Needing to do that regularly (mostly due to running out of oil) leads to problems.

Sorry, have had to bleed once or twice, not a regular occurrence. How do I sort the capacitor? I can hear the pump going I think a faint gentle humm. Just the fan doesn't fire up....

Isolate the electricity and check if the fan turns freely. If it does then with electricity still isolated replace the capacitor with like for like.

Without being there to do proper diagnostics, this is just an educated guess But if you don't want to get a service guy out, then worth a try.

Sound ok, now... How do you mean isolate the electricity and how do I make the fan turn?

Having to ask those questions informs me that you should not attempt to repair and I advise getting someone in to fix it. Sorry if I seem harsh, but I don't want to be a party to an accidental electrocution.

Unless you reasonably competent with electrics and mechanics you need to get in someone to fix it cost should be in the €65-€80 area

Yea, I'm not competent so am staying away from it. Bleeding is as much as I know so calling in the professionals tomorrow. I always want to try stuff but I won't go at this at all. Thanks

    €60 - €80 for a service & capacitor ??? :)

Possibly for a regular client who has their boiler in good condition.
I would never do a "just" repair without a full service.
To many would want a "lifetime" guarantee after a small job.

We all know a first service requires a lot of extra work to check all the neglected bits.
