Hi all. I'd really appreciate some advice from those that have gone before so we can make the most of our first proper family holiday.

We (me, mammy house, 5yo, 2.5yo and 9months) are travelling out Irish ferries rosslare cherbourg on 19th August for 7 nights in domaine Les ormes. Coming home through the UK to spend a few days with my sister. To say we have an excited house is an understatement and given that it's taken us 5 years of scrimping to afford it we want to make sure it's a great one.

So here are some things we'd really like advice on from seasoned travellers.

Insurance to cover car breakdown (no cover on our policy), medical emergency, cancelled boats etc.

Things to do on the site and in the area we are staying and sorts of costs associated? Kids are very adventurous!

Good restaurants and perhaps ones to avoid, same with shops for the groceries?

Other general tips and advice that might save us getting in a tight spot!

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hiya, and congrats. A few thoughts:
    - Get an EHIC card each if you don't already have them (if there's time)
    - I heartily recommend Tripadvisor.ie reviews for choosing good restaurants & things to do. I also use the Tripadvisor forums to ask specific questions. It's worth reading a lot of the reviews, but remember that many of the other people like different things to you (and me!) and treat them accordingly. look here: https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Tourism-g662876-Dol_de_Bretagne_Ille_et_Vilaine_Brittany-Vacations.html (is this the right place?)
    - If you have health insurance, then adding travel insurance can be cheap.

    Have a great time!

Thank you we'd completely forgotten about ehic but it's being sorted now. 5 weeks today and counting 😊
