Recruitment jargon

I've been working for the same company a long time now but it is time to move on. I've just completed 9 interviews for a company over a 4 week period and felt like they went very well overall.

1 week after completing my last interview I got a call from the internal recruiter saying they had positive feedback from the Manager, Director and VP who had interviewed me but that there was further feedback pending and they would get back to me with further news.

I heard nothing so I emailed back after 1 week asking if there was any further news and got a reply saying nothing concrete so far and they are still in "decision making mode".

I genuinely don't know whether to take this at face value or not... maybe because I have been out of the external interview game for over 13 years now but I would have thought after doing 9 interviews that having a dialogue and coming up with a yes or no would be pretty straight forward on their end.

    What are everyone's thoughts?

I think the fact you did 9 interviews should tell you they dont know how to make a decision.

    Expect to wait.

Personally unless it was the best job in the world i'd have told them off about asking for another interview after 3rd one.

I did 11 interviews for one job. They hadn't a clue what they wanted. In one way that was good...made up my own role. Again the agency said something similar.

    9 interviews?

Unless God's gone missing (certain TV series reference) and they're looking to fill the role, then 9 interviews is serios overkill. I imagine it's a high responsibility role that the company thinks is key and they have had issues with a previous incumbent... but come on already!
