New leaked pics of the Google Pixel were released today. The screen looks great....the back looks.....ok I suppose.

Not sure if I should get the S8 now that it's available for 600e and I wont have to pay the 800e that Three and the likes are looking for
Moving to the front, we see the star of the show: an LG-made AMOLED display 6" across at a 2:1 aspect ratio with minimal bezel and rounded corners
We can see a very wide speaker grille at the top, as well as the front-facing camera. It's unclear to me if this speaker will be used in tandem with a bottom-firing driver, HTC-style, to create a "stereo" effect, but it wouldn't surprise me. As to the headphone jack, we're not really sure what the status of that is, unfortunately.
Finally, we believe that the new Pixel XL will have a "squeezable" frame a la HTC U11. The same technology utilized in that phone will allow Pixel owners to squeeze their handset to interact with the Google Assistant in various ways (primarily)

So, is this Google abandoning making their own handsets and returning to previous form?

What was wrong with the Nexus 9?

In any case, HTC have done plenty of devices for Google, and produced the first Android device, do maybe they have some credit in the bank for that.

From the rumours I've read, HTC were to produce 2 pixel devices this year, much the same as the two last year, with LG to produce an even larger third device (the one in the OP).

The larger HTC device has been dropped, so there should be a standard pixel by HTC, and a larger one from LG.

Out of the 4 tablets I've owned, my N9 has been the best overall. It's also the most premium.

That said, I only paid €200 for it brand new.

    Can't beat an Argos misprice.

Huh? HTC made the first Pixel.

Google have never made their own handset, the Pixel was just the first one they 'designed' or whatever. This will likely be the same.

Anyway, I loved my Pixel, was pretty gutted when I broke it, but the S8 is also great thankfully. Still, if I could combine Pixel OS with an S8 design + screen + features then it'd basically be the ultimate smartphone. Looks like this might be trying to do just that.

I'm still going strong with the N7, would be nice if they released a similar size tablet at some stage, it's been 4 years after all!

    That rings a bell!

Did you get regular updates (Android security patches & any other updates with features) on the Pixel when you had it?

The only thing holding me back from buying a S8 is updates...

Yeah, you get monthly updates on the Pixel, I believe the support period was only 2 years though (as opposed to Apple who seem to support their devices forever), so you were only guaranteed until Android 9 which wasn't great for a €700 phone.

S8 has been decent so far, seems to be bi-monthly updates.

I believe it's 2 years for OS updates, 3 years for security patches.

Rear fingerprint sensor on the htc?

Sorry im an idiot and just realised it's already like that on the pixel

Someone photoshopped it based on the AndroidPolice leak... (All pics are mock ups)

It looks nice, the back is definitely nicer than the S8.

If it's only available on the play store and they leave Ireland out again, what's the point ? Punters are gonna have to import it when one of the amazons eventually get it I suppose.

A good few boardsies got them up north and when they were travelling.

Last year was a disaster, they even screwed up the launch in the US and they were hard to get. Hopefully they don't make a balls of it again!
