So I always had in my head that I would never wear a veil on my wedding day and now the closer it gets the more I'm doubting myself. I always thought they were for very young brides. But I think they look great in photos. I'm having an outdoor wedding and I'm 35.
So honest answers please how old is too old for a veil?

I really thought I'd never wear one either and I'm 39, but I tried one on for the craic and it really set the dress off so I got it. It was a very simple one set halfway down the back of my head and I took it off after the pictures.

I happens to us all! I was never wearing a veil + tried one on + that was it. I was thinking of the old fashion veils that are like a halo around your face but the modern ones are lovely. Like the last poster mine was half way down at back of head so cant even see it in some pictures. I loved it + no your not too old!

I didn't want one either but tried one on at a fitting just for the laugh and found out I loved it! I took it off before the meal because it was as long as my train.

I never thought of it having an age limit. Try out different head pieces before you make your decision. I knew I would never choose a veil but tried one on for my mother. I felt ridiculous! But the moment I tried on a birdcage veil I knew it was for me. There are so many pretty hair accessories to wear. There are different types of veils and some really take away from a dress; they have to be matched well. I have a friend who had a stunning trumpet style lace dress with sleeves that she paired with a kind of Spanish style veil (you know the ones that just sit over the top of the head). They were individually stunning but it was such a busy look together and the each took away from the beauty of each other.

I always thought I'd wear one, I got a mid length one, but very undecided as to whether to wear it or not. I tried on a full length one, it sat lovely around my face and had a lovely train. I loved it, but it took away from the detail on the back of the dress so I couldn't go with it.

I think your best try them on and if you can with the dress as well and see what you do and don't like.

I'd say try on a few different styles and lengths, take pictures - and a picture without a veil so you can decide at your leisure what you prefer.

As for an age cut off then no, I don't think there is really. If you're good with a big, white, more traditional style wedding dress then a veil shouldn't look out of place.

Bear in mind if you are having an outdoor wedding, and it is windy- this could be a bit of a problem!
