Wing Mirror Clipping Etiquette

Hi all. Today driving along a very narrow road my wing mirror slightly clipped an oncoming car. There was no damage done to mine and I doubt any to his (very slight clip). I looked in my mirror and he just kept on going. To avoid causing an obstruction, I drove on about 100m and pulled in. I walked back but he was gone. What's the right thing to do in this situation? I have it on dashcam and neither of us are at fault from what I can see, just a very narrow road.

If there's no road markings then AFAIK it's blame shared equally - i.e. sort out your own.

It's in a city, but no road markings exactly where it happened. Just a very narrow road. I suppose it probably happens all the time.

Happened to my Dad years ago, he had an old VW Jetta.

Clipped mirrors, he's mirror broke and so did the other chaps.

Both stopped, then the other fella drove off, so my Dad did too.

    Happens sometimes, drive on.

Another inch or two and you'd have a big bill, be thankful and carry on

Would both sides have to cover their own costs?

Yes if neither were at fault or more likely both

Happened to a friend of mine who I was following a few years ago.
Crested a hill on a narrow road.
He was going a bit faster than I thought he should have been given the lack of visibility.
Car coming the other way crested at exactly the same time.
    Combined speed of 150kph+.
and a similar number of pieces after both mirrors seemed to explode.
It was a bit surreal watching it.

Happenned to me about a year ago when i had the S4 avant

Brushed aluminium wing mirrors which arent cheap.

Half 8 on a backroad some idiot in a 407 swerves out at last minute to avoid a pothole as they were flying along and wing mirros clash and i lose my glass which pops out and smashes on the road, casing was fine apart from a tiny crack on the inside, her wingmirror exploded and off down the road she went.

    What a c**t

Just outside of the office last week a truck scraped the mirror of an overtaking car. Two lanes, truck turning left and car on the right lane heading straight. It's a tight turn, so the truck edges into the right lane to be able to execute the turn and the car which was a car length behind "overtook" the turning truck to continue straight leading to the scrape. Car driver was absolutely livid and screaming at the truck driver, in tears sobbing away to the extent we decided to nonchalantly saunter down to see the damage. The mirror wasn't broken but there was a scratch on the case and the paint was gone. Garda was called and took statements from both drivers. I'm amazed they showed up for that...

    Doesn't work like that.
If you drive at 100kph into a wall you go from 100kph to 0 ,
If you 2 cars drive into each other at 100kph they both go from 100kph to 0.

they dont add their speeds together
