Jobseekers Benefit and self-employment

Looking for someone to confirm what I think I understand from welfare website, and if I'm taking it up correctly.

I've been in solid employment for over nine years, maternity benefit ends this month and so does my previous job as was only decided this week.
I plan on claiming jobseekers benefit until I find other employment.
What I want to confirm is that I can still claim JB if I get the odd day's "self employed" work as well as as many "employed" days as I can, and claim for the days in which I don't work. The nature of my work means I could find some occasional work here and there.

    Many thanks for any clarification.

You'll probably qualify for casual worker jobseekers benefit. They send you out x and o dockets, send them back each week marking the days you did work if any. They subtract 1/5 of 197 from the total payment for each day you work and that's what you're paid.

If you didn't pay enough stamps in the year previously they put you on jobseekers allowance which is means tested. I'm not sure about how the stamps work. Am on JA myself and it's complicated. Sounds like you'll be fine for JB and the casual dockets though.
