Looking to get a hold of some of the hymns that's sung by choirs at mass in Ireland (catholic)
Our local choir is very good and I find some of their hymns very uplifting. Anyone know where I can find such music or what to look for?

You'll find that a lot of the songs sung apart from the overtly RC ones were written by non Catholics.
If there are any songs you particularly want, a Google search should bring up the writer .a further search will give you the cd and we're to get it. I bought some off Amazon recently.

I've never had much of an ear for Choral music sung at the local Church, but around Christmas they do make a good effort with classics such as Adeste Fideles (the english version, as per Wiki, by a Father Oakeley).

Any religious bookshop should have a selection of hymn books for sale. If you're in Dublin, Veritas in Abbey Street would have several (including the Veritas Hymnal, which was published in 1975, has been reissued several times, and is still in print). They'll give you the words and the music, and usually identify the composer and lyricist of each hymn.

Yes, Veritas should be able to supply what you want, I sometimes drop in there, its a lovely shop and the assistants have always been very friendly and helpful. Likewise, if you continue on down Abbey Street and turn left, head down Talbot Street towards Connolly Station you will also find Scripture Union Christian Bookshop, again a very nice bookshop with friendly staff.

Do you want the words, the name of the author and composer, to find the songs on youtube, or to buy CDs or MP3s?

Also there is a great variety of music used in catholic churches Ireland. The Veritas hymnal only has music written before it was first published in 1973.

In Caelo is a later book by Veritas Publications which has some more modern music.

Give us some more clues what you're after and we can be more specific.

Just the religious hymns that are sung during various masses. The actual music to listen to, not instrumentals
