Family of 4 first time camping trip to West Cork next weekend, no experience whatsoever, we bought a tent what else are necessities, we don't have much money to spend on equipment, so essentials please.

Presume you've sleeping bags and foam mattresses at a mimum.

Some people go camping and bring the kitchen sink. I prefer the camping where you gave to carry your stuff!

Take a spin to Halfords, they'll have cheap enough stuff for camping.

Essentials as far as i see it for comping are.

Tent with plenty of pegs and a spare length of tent pole
    Sleeping Bags
Ground sheet (essentially a large heavy duty plastic sheet) - essential as the ground sheet in a tent is normally not enough to keep the wet out especially if it rains.
    Foam mat.
    Torch
    wet weather gear.
    Insect repellent and sun cream
    plenty of plastic bags

    Luxury extras...
    Pillow
    Air matress or therma-rest
    Radio
    Gas cooker
    Fold up chair
    Peg mallet

All these items can be gotten for fairly cheap from Aldi/Lidl of any decent outdoors shop.
