Rathdrum to Dublin

I don't know if I should be posting this here or in the Wicklow forum but I figure it's more of a commute query.

Well my girlfriend has been offered a job down in Rathdrum and will be taking it, subject to paperwork being sorted beforehand. We're not living together yet but we both want to. At the moment I live in Swords and work in Santry, but it seems like Rathdrum would be a bit of a nightmare for me. I've done my research with the trains and the earliest train out of Dublin is at 9:40am which would be no use to her, so it looks like we'd have to move down there. The bus service also appears to be almost non-existent, with one service each way from Arklow. In any case, I'm probably looking at a 2 hour commute.

Is that all there is or am I missing something? Looks like this might force my hand with getting driving. My girlfriend can drive, but she has an American driving licence so she'd have to start at square one to get on the road here.
