Heading to Amsterdam in mid August and looking for recommendations for a bit of comfort and convenience to museums and other sights and cost around €200 per night (including taxes).

Breakfast included would be good - and also close to bars with some live music.

    Thanks!!

Stayed in this hotel while in Amsterdam last year. August would appear to be in or around your €200 a night budget.

Really nice hotel. Very central. Close to Dam Square. Bars and restaurants everywhere. Few minutes walk from the RLD if that's your thing.

Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in.

Cheers - what's the hotel called?

Stayed here. 2 minutes walk to Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum. Not far from Leidseplein. So quiet but 5/10 minutes walk and you're in the heart of things

Mercure or holiday Inn in sloterdijk. About 5 minutes from dam square by train. Hotels are more or less outside the train station. Cheaper than city centre and the train is so handy.

I can recommend art hotel (short tram ride) or if your budget will stretch to it the amrath is stunning and very central (also it had a free minibar when I last stayed in it)

Agreed. Stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Sloterdijk and was very impressed. Free breakfast and nice rooms for €60-€80 per night depending on when you stay. 5 minutes on the train (right next to the hotel) and you're in the centre. Save the other €120 for tours, restaurants and drinks/smokes :D

My parents went to Amsterdam a few months back and stayed in the Hotel Cappuccino, and they thought that it was a very good hotel! It's close to the Anne Frank museum apparently.

Run a search on the Club Carlson website & enter CARLSONF in the promotional code field.

It's their 'friends & family' rate, which should give a room at €80 if it's available at that property on your selected dates. I'm just back from their Art O'tel directly opposite Centraal station & paid €160 for the two nights & I've also used the rate at the Park Plaza Victoria next door.

You may be asked for a staff member name & work location at check in, though I've availed of the rate several times in the EU & US and have yet to be asked to provide such information.

Can it be used to book a double room - when I enter it - I just get 1 adult next to the room type and I can't seem to change it.

After running a search on the front page (where you'll also enter promo code), you'll then see a drop-down on the second page, where you can specify the number of adults.
