I've a classic so can't really comment on the looks and size of the frontier. Have grown to rely on the Gear since I purchased it, the notification facility is excellent, especially when in meetings and I don't want to pick up the phone. I use it with a Samsung S6 so again can't comment on the iPhone compatablility.

Its IP68, Samsung claim water resistance to 5ft for 30 mins, so accidental immersion should be fine, but not swimming.

Apple Watch series 2 has ISO 22810 water resistance of 50m so even that is marginal for swimming.

Do any smart watches have better water resistance?

I bought one of these today, I also have an original apple watch, the Samsung is a far superior product, it's so intuitive and the quality of the watch faces is superb.

The rotating bezel along with the touch screen is a fantastic design. I'm moving the apple watch on, it feels like a toy compared to the Samsung.
