    Hi All.
I am looking at buying a vintage tractor in the UK. The seller is asking 2K +vat. As far as I know he is private seller not a garage etc. Do I need to pay the VAT? If I did pay the VAT how do I get proof of VAT paid?

Won't this change post Brexit ie isn't the VAT treatment different when purchasing outside the EU?

Are you registered for VAT OP?

If not, you will have to pay the VAT regardless.

If you are registered you can avoid paying it, if you can somehow show / prove that a vintage tractor is for sole business use :-)

no i'm not vat registered, So it is a case of just getting a receipt from the seller saying the vat is paid?
