Setting up new account in rental property

    Hi there,
I've just moved into rental property. Our landlord gave us the meter reading the day before we moved in, and told us to call Electric Ireland to set up an account. However, he does not have an account number or MPRN to give to us in order to set up a new account. Is there any way that we can set up our account without these two details?

    Thank you! :)

    Hi miss_mairead,

Many thanks for your interest in Electric Ireland.

An account number is not required, as your registration will generate your own account number, however the MPRN is required to register you as this is the identifier for the property's electricity meter.

If you or your landlord have a previous bill, the MPRN is on this - it is a long number beginning with 1.

Alternatively, if the property has been previously registered with Electric Ireland in recent times, we can carry out a search for the MPRN. Just private message us the address in question, and the serial number on the meter itself (containing the letters "RM").

We will assist as soon as possible.

    Best regards,
    Una
