Selling advise

I'm moving back to South Africa at the end of the year. I have to sell my 2013 VW Up! (+- 60,000km) before I leave.

I'd like to know when I should start advertising it? I'm planning to use Donedeals, Adverts.ie, Gumtree and Carzone.
I plan to sell for about €5,500 - €6,000, which is below all the other asking prices at the moment.
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
*Also, I don't know how to fix my horrendous spelling error in the title. Maybe it draws more people in

Personally, if I'm willing to undercut everyone else and there's nothing wrong with the car (e.g. not more wear and tear and scratches than what you'd expect given the mileage and age, no weird exotic color, ...), I would still put it up at least two weeks before it has to be gone. Earlier if I can work around not having a car (borrow/rent a car, public transport).

Any less time and you're in danger of not attracting enough people and having to lower the price to a ridiculously low level to get rid of it in time.

Not everyone is constantly looking, and even if someone really wants your car, they have to have a look at it (probably takes a few days), sleep over it, agree to buy it, and come over to actually pick it up.

    Thanks

So I'd be looking at 4-6 weeks then (to be safe), with 2 weeks of deliberation. I can survive without a car for a few weeks

There is no set time on how long it takes to sell a car, it could sell in 2 days or 2 months. There are alot of variables involved including pricing it right and the right buyer happens to be looking for the car at the right time. One thing to also note is that this time of year is a slow time to be selling a car, people can either be preparing for their summer holidays or are just back from them and are broke. Sept/October might be more favourable with a car like an Up! as it would appeal to a young driver/student who is heading to college and needs a low running cost car.
