    Hi everyone,

    How are you?

So I posted a while ago about my jack russell named Bandit who had some toilet issue.

Since I applied all the advises I've been given by people it worked great, he also went many times to the dog keeper for sometimes more than a week and never did his business indoors, but since we got back from our last holidays it seems to appear that our little Bandit is starting all over again to poop indoor at night, but he seems to be doing well during the day.

He's walked out everyday (half an hour in the morning and I usually let him play by himself with his toys, or either I play with him in the backyard for around 30/45 minutes when I get back from work everyday.

I have a dog crate which I dont know if it's still good to use at least at night , to see how does he respond regarding this.

He has been checked by the vet and nothing seem to be wrong on a health side of things.

He's never been perfectly housetrained (he's one year and a half now) but we usually had an accident every 2/3 weeks now his number 2 issues are every morning when I wake up.

We usually go to bed around 10.30PM and I wake up every morning around 5.15PM.

Thanks in advance for your responses guys.

    Clement

I assume like most people that you yourself require a dump approx the same time every day. This is mostly caused by a few reasons. Habit, time of your meals and your digestive system.

If fido is wanting a dump before you get up try altering the time he has his meals to either later or even better to earlier so he can clear himself out before bedtime.

As regards house training well believe it or not the dog isn't stupid it's usually the owner and the problem is you haven't bothered to learn his language. So it's a bit like going abroad and asking people for things in English and they just smile at you and hug you and introduce you to their friends when all you wanted was directions to the pub.

When fido comes to you and you pat him on the head and say good boy, he may be saying 'dad i want a p*ss'. In which case he waits until he cannot no more and bingo you have a puddle.

Keep taking him out and mention the words 'out' or 'wee' every time and when he does his business outside congratulate him and use the words out and wee or other so he can relate to those words and what is going on with the owner who does strange things, who speaks a different language, keeps patting him on the head and shuts him in a cage of a night........why?........ do you think he lays eggs?

Also make sure that something isnt bothering him outside so he is scared to go there and do his business.

A dog is like/better than a child. He needs education on some things like toilet issues and that can only come from you and he will learn fast if the teacher is any good............just like a child.

Would you consider taking him for a walk before you go to bed to see if he will go to the toilet then?
My JRT does her business twice a day whilst out on her walks but she would get a lot more walking than your JRT. She gets at least an hour to hour and a half during the day.
Perhaps as well as playing with him when you come home you could walk him as well and that might get him to do his business.

What's his routine? Does he normally poop twice/day? I assume once while being walked in the morning? I would think you would need to bring him for a walk in the evening to encourage him to go and then last thing before bed is a quick spin outside to go for a wee.

My dogs always poo on their walks - could be something to do with the exercise stimulating their bowel? OP as mentioned, if instead of playing with him in the garden after work, bring him for a walk to see if that helps?
