Would you prefer less Irish people in Ireland?

Help!!!!

Frankfurt has become the first city in Germany where the migrants are now the majority. So how much migration into Ireland would you accept? At the minute theres between 10-15% ( but I've also seen 20% being mooted )non native Irish in the country.
So when will enough be enough or should we continue to take them in until the native Irish are in the minority?

i dont really care as long as there's enough housing, healthcare etc for all. We can't reap the rewards of globalism while remaining insular. Pretty much all minimum wage jobs seem to be done by immigrants now, who would do those jobs without them?

People on the dole, teenagers. The immigrants that are here and are working, contributing to Ireland is great. Do you think we would have so many wanting to come here if say we did like Poland and paid no benefits until they worked over 2 years?

Why aren't these people on the dole doing the jobs now? They deem themselves above being a cleaner or dishwasher, that's why. Lots of people on social welfare are probably better off on the scratcher than getting the kind of job they'd qualify for.

We'd be right årseholes to think we should shut the door now that the tables have turned.

No I would not. IMHO such immigration on the back of a yen for "multiculturalism" will be seen as a damned silly policy in years to come. It has caused problems in every single other European nation, so it beggars belief that so many here want to sign up for it.

Why not? In any event I don't know what a strict immigration policy has to do with overall insularity, or globalism. Japan has a population of nearly 130 million people, is an industrial powerhouse and part of the global market far more than we are. Number of immigrants/non natives? Around 2 million.

Oh and in before the "well the Irish emigrated in large numbers, so it's payback time" stuff. Yes we did, however in the majority of cases to nations founded and built on immigration(and displacement of the natives) and again in the majority of nations there were few social safety nets. Unlike modern Ireland, where benefits are among the highest in the EU(and world). Edit. Seems I wasn't quick enough, but that "argument" comes up in such debates as night follows day, so not a shock.

Yeah but rather than sticking them on Tus or other crap they would be easier to push them to do these types of jobs. They are on benefits because its easier to say theres no jobs out there because the immigrants are doing them

No one is calling for shutting the door but is it not better to put a stop to those coming straight on benefits. How about looking after who's here first, sorting out the HSE etc. If we keep accepting people the countries going to break and it will never be fixed

Yeah because they have gotten away with it for so long. Less immigrants then the would be forced to take the jobs that would be available

I'm cool with Europeans, westerners, hell people in general coming over, as long as people work, contribute, integrate (not assimilate). I have plenty of foreign friends and I enjoy the differences in food, upbringing etc, it makes for interesting conversation. My OH is German. Yeah maybe this makes me islamophobic but I am not so keen on having a significant amount of people from muslim countries here. If they can integrate then fine but I find that Islam doesn't really allow for integration. I feel like Ireland has just shaken off religious oppression and bigotry and we don't need any more of it.

Yeah a large percentage are EU nationals. What I'd like is for the government to do what Poland does & not pay benefits to any non Irish national who hasn't worked for at least two years. Then the people who come here are coming for the right reasons

Exactly, but some in Ireland will scream at the mere mention of the RCC but will welcome Islam. Have you been over to Germany lately? Whats it like now?

Its talking about the native German being in the minority. Migrant background would probably second/third generation

No thanks to muslim immigration. Having visited Brussels and Paris recently I don't want Dublin to become like that. Both cities have their nice parts especially Paris, but stray into slightly cheaper areas and the dirty streets and menacing atmosphere are from another world. Those comparing it to Dublin on a Saturday night are deeply naïve/deluded.

Is it true that I think its Dublin 16,22 & 26 there are estates where delivery drivers wont deliver because they were being robbed by gangs of black youths. And that these areas are like ghettos?
