Has there been an increase in the number of Aussie voices on Irish radio recently?

I'm sure I heard an Aussie accent on 2FM as well as on Nova and Spin....

There is (or was) a newsreader on 4FM... possibly the same girl that appears on Nova. Nails on a chalkboard...

I get a lift to work in the mornings, and my God her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I know you're thinking "just don't listen to Nova then" but it's not my car. Then on the way home she does be on the Rock Report... I can't escape it. I don't know what it is, it's the high pitched squeaky nasal tone.

    It's a scourge.

I've noticed it too and I find it really annoying.

Ive had the misfortune to be in the car the past few saturday mornings when 2fm comes on and this booming aussie accent assails me. Off it goes...Dreadful stuff outside of the accent as well

Are they Australians or Irish people that spent a summer over there and their accent changed?

    Sorry I misread!

There used to be a guy called Mark Taaffe on Radio Metro 1057 on the Gold Coast, he is from Dublin. He has also, back home, been on NRG, Radio Nova and, most recently, SPIN 1038 where he recently provided a 20 minute guest mix for Martin Guilfoyle's House Party.

Irish comedian Dave Callan can regularly be heard on Triple J.

Commented on this in work recently. There's at least 1 male and 1 female presenter with Aussie accents on Spin; the newsreader on one other station (Nova I think), and at least 1 female on 2fm with an Aussie accent.

I personally find it the most irritating accent in the world so find it really annoying. Not sure what's driving this shift either, it's not like they're better than the incumbents.

I find that a lot of Australians just can't say "no". At least not without including all the other vowels too.

Alison is lovely though. The Aussies are garish sh1te spewers, talking non stop trash in their horrible overbearing accents. Needless to say they get turned off.

She's a pain, with her seemingly only able to say that "I have a Child/Twitter account/53102"
