Fixed Time AI & COming In Heat If Missed

    Hi
IV bred three cows to Fixed time AI. 2 held and one did not which is probably fine going by the 60% rule of thumb for conceivin from Fixed Time AI.
Problem is, I have no bull to pick up the last cow. Anything I can give her to assure she will come back in heat every 21 days ? Another jag of stuff from the vets?
    Cheers

When were they AI'd? Have you had them scanned to confirm in calf? It's up to yourself if you want to fixed time her again or just watch for heat. Doesn't sound like she is a problem cow so not necessarily any need to go interfering at this point if happy to watch for heat.

Get some heat detection aids scratch cards or kamars and put it on their backs and keep them together and check them a couple of times a day, esp early in the morning

Could you please explain this process to me as I seriously need to consider something like this as finding it very hard to get cows back in calf.
Calved I'm late April, getting a shot of dairy nuts since and given a mineral dose and just can't catch them bulling.
    Thanks

did u take calves off them -for a time, does aid in heat detection..also do you check them at night
Had a neighbour who had heifers, he wanted to serve, could never see any activity from them during the day-low and behold coming home late 1 night, there was a lady a bulling--watched them from then on, at night--caught all + ai'd all when seen the next day....

For the last few years I've started putting two bullocks with each group of cows, they do a great heat detection job. I'll sell them in a few weeks when I'm finished Ai.

Not really, have used AAX, LMX, CHX and SalerX so far. They've all worked well, Ive never used a teaser bull but couldn't see it being any better than a bullock.

Drop a cidr into the cows, 7 days later jag with estrumate and then remove cidr 8th day - cows should be on within 48 hours.

My problem is before i used the cidr etc - i missed the cows cycling so to hell with that I will try catch them with narrowing the window down a bit. She should be due to come on this weekend again - can keep a keen eye early morning, afternoon and late evening.

Might try the bullock trick. Does it work just as well as a teaser bull ?

The yearling bullocks work great here, they miss nothing.

Same as that a couple of yearling bullocks with first time heifers does the trick

Would a 2 year bullock old be as good at detection or would you recommend a yearling only ?

I've only used yearling bullocks but I'd imagine an older one should do the job also. The February/March bull calves are doing the job now too.
