I noticed this also when viewing "The Living Dead" last week and again this week. I initially thought it was an issue with my receiver, but no other channels affected, nor did I notice it on other programmes on RTE2. I eventually concluded that it was some weird audio setting in the playout in RTE. Dialogue was ok but any sound effects (doors slamming or gunfire or whatever) had an echo as if they were recorded inside a metal drum.

Same again this week on "The Walking Dead".
