I have a load of books, cds and other bits and pieces that I can sell to various shops around town. Anyone know have to pay tax on these sales? The total amount of money I'd get in return for everything is probably less than 200 euro.

    Thanks!

You already paid tax on them when you bought them, why would you pay tax a 2nd time?

No tax. Sell away to your heart's content.

Hate these threads where people want to run to the government that is ripping them off left right and center with tax from a simple cash sale of a few goods.

Profit or no profit, there'd be no tax unless the OP is carrying on a trade of dealing in second hand goods and/or is registered for VAT.

    How?

If you can't stomach having to pay tax maybe stop browsing the tax thread?

Pay too much tax. What I mean is if I were to find a 100 euro note on ground I would not be running down to the revenue with it. I'm sure when a taxi driver gets a 50 euro tip from a well off tourist he doesn't floor it and speed down to Revenue to declare it . Cash is a merry go round, one gets it and spends it and round and round it goes. As long as one has their tax in order I would not be worried about the OP and the selling of a few books.
