Provider not giving me fastest fibre available

My parents signed up for Fibre last year and only getting 7Mbps speed with it when they were getting 24Mbps with ADSL. They were promised that the fuibre would be faster than the ADSL (which it isnt) Iv been checking all the time and now I see the lines been upgraded to 15Mbps. I asked the provider about the faster speeds and they want to sign me into a new contract to avail of the faster speed.

Is this right that the provider can do this or should they upgrade it regardless of a new contract? Still only half way through the initial 18 month contract.

    Any thoughts on this?

Your numbers dont really add up. Assuming they're about 1.8km from the exchange to give them 7Mb VDSL2 they'd only have been getting about 18Mb on ADSL2+ not 24.

If those numbers are correct and the sales rep promised it would be faster you were mis sold.
    1. Ask for call recording
    2. Wait
    3. Wait
    4. Have contract nullified
    5. Order ADSL("old broadband") with a new provider.

As this is a downgrade in a systems perspective expect a week or two of no service during the process.

Who's the provider? That behaviour appears strange.

Maybe it wasnt 24Mbps they were getting, All i know is that it was faster, i just assumed it may have been 24.
I wonder if getting contract nullified they could just give UAN without charging ETCs, as I dont want them to be without broadband, just maybe switch to another provider who will be more upfront.

    Broadband is with Vodafone.

You have to have downtime as the service needs to be canceled in order to revert.

Same happened to me with Vodafone as well, got called and and got told it was the fastest and all that but I ask what speed I'd get in the end and they told me 7Mb. Took another 10 minutes for the rep to admit that my current 14Mb+ was faster than 7Mb.

Didn't change and just moved, I'm on "fibre" now but that's still only 30Mb.
