Cool colour tones when photos printed

I had a few prints done recently, mostly B&W and one or two colour. On my monitor the photos have the correct colour tone but when printed they come out very cool with a lot of blue. Even the B&W prints have a hint of blue to them. IS it to do with screen calibration (which I'm convinced is correct) or colour space I use in camera? I use AdobeRGB rather than sRGB which I believe is supposed to be better for prints?

If the screen is not calibrated correctly how to I check it and correct it?

You know your screen isn't calibrated, but do you know if the printer is calibrated?

Where do you get them printed?

It may be due to the colour space, but many printers can print the AdobeRGB colour space.

Start with calibrating your monitor and then see.

I get the prints done at 360dpi so i would be very surprised if they are not calibrated.

Where do you get them printed though? sRGB is much more widely supported amongst places like photobox and similar, I'd be surprised if AdobeRGB is, and with no profile your prints could end up all over the shop. Or maybe whoever is printing them doesn't have a calibrated workflow.

You could ask Steve for the calibration profile, and load that on your machine. Then you should see exactly how the print will come out.

Thanks Paul. Didn't know I could do that.

haha, I read that as you having had them printed out at actual 360dpi and I was wondering what the heck that had to do with colour profiling :-D
