Building without building permit/application

    Hello all,

I recently watched some of the grand designs and Kevin McCloud's manmade home again.

This got me wondering, is it possible to 'build' a home (for instance on a trailer) to avoid having to apply for a building permit?

I guess you would require a septic tank and a well for water if you were going to stay on your plot of land permanently, but when it comes to the home a suggestion would be getting a large second hand trailer and building it on that. You would then end up with a livable space which you could move a few inches every now and then to avoid it being permanent.
The whole idea behind it would be that agricultural land (I would use the majority for growing plants/keeping animals anyway) is a lot cheaper than a building plot.

    Thanks very much!

Moving it a few inches is irrelevant. It will still be within the curtiledge of a site. So you can move it 8 feet at a time and it won't help you try and beat the law of the land.

Basically, you can't do what you posted.

    Thanks both for the answers!
That's a shame, but I guess it will have to be accepted :)
