Anyone ever modify an O'Neill cattle feeder?

So i have an O'Neill cattle feeder for finishing cattle out on the field. It's a calibrated one so i can dish out the amount of feeding that i want each day.
Thing is that it only has 4 head spaces each side and i have 20-30 cattle. So only 8 can eat at a time. I currently feed them by lugging two extra old troughs around with the bin.
I have an idea to take off the two side bottom ends of the feeder which are already rotten anyway and get a sheet of steel to bend into the shape of the floor and slide it in and out to allow me to feed all cattle together using the same machine.
Similar to O'Neill's current solution on their new feeders but obv a much cheaper and not as neat a job....!!!

    Anyone ever do something similar?
