Almost had one yesterday, tap in eagle.
Any albatrosses out there (or close calls)?

Haven't had one before, no. Have had eagle putts from around 5-10ft but no closer than that.

There was one in Grange Castle on the 18th hole as far as I know, within the last year or so.

I think that you win some sort of price from HowDidIDo, similar to the hole in one prizes for it.

    I had a 2 on our par 5 7th years ago.

The hole was shortened by about 100yrs though as they were putting in a new green ☺️

know of 2 holes in one on par 4s if that counts. 17th in westport and 16th in curra West. not mine of course. As for 2 on a par 5 never seen on but plenty of close calls within 6 feet. again not mine.

Went albatross eagle birdie birdie a few years back, 2.2.2.4.

Missed out on twos competition, and only got the gross.

    Missed out?
In our club you can have a 2 on any hole, and a hole in 1 takes half the pot

Never had an eagle on a par 5 let alone an albatross!

4 eagles in my life, 2 holes in ones, 2 hole outs on Par 4s

Will get that elusive par 5 eagle one day!

Never had an Albatross but I had an Eagle once on the 15th at Corballis. Such is the nature of that hole I didn't see it go in, only that I struck it well and on a good line. Managed to get a birdie on the 16th straight after aswell. Very proud of that. Rest of the round was nothing to write home about though.

Could have at least made it somewhat believable

Yea I think I did. Didn't give the tee shot enough gas and rolled back to the bottom of the hill. It ain't easy from there.

Had my first eagle on the par 5 index 1 in donabate on Sunday. Pitched in from the light rough 60 yards out. With 2 shots at the hole, I got a nice 5 pointer out of it

The guy plays off +2 (or has done in the past)... lots of golf, lots of extremely good golf, nothing to disbelieve.

Unless he has been posting for 7+ years just to line up that post.

I've never had an albatross but I played in the states last year and got a double eagle.

Is that not a 6 pointer

    Albatross would be 6 points.

    Correct

On a par 5 with two shots a bogey is 3 pts
    A par 4pts
    A birdie 5 pts
    An eagle 6 pts.

There's no index 1 par 5 in Donabate.

Dont ruin it! Who cares if it was on the playstation.
Playing partner had albatross on the 7th in Mahon last year. 3 wood 7 iron in the hole on a par 5. Couldnt see it as it was obscured by the hedge and elevated green. Closest ive come is a hole in one on a par 3.

How is a hole in one close to an albatross?

Is a hole in zero an albatross on a par 3 :)

Id hit a decent enough long ball but my god I've never been near that green in two

    Must have been some smacks

Yeah caught the drive well. The hole is normally into prevailing wind, so can play long, but it was pretty calm on the day with just some light air coming left to right. So I was up a little further than I'd normal be. Lovely 5i in from ~185m out for my 2nd flew in over left edge of front bunker and pitched on front edge of green. Rolled out to about 15 inches. Matchplay so was playing a little more aggressive then normal! :D

Was it a gimme or did you put it in?

    Coz a gimme doesn't count ;)

It was given. But I said I'd prefer to putt it in for the eagle this time, and I did

I know your pain, I had this left after 2 shots on the par 5 12th at Corballis, was playing with Fix that day. Literally another roll and it was in. Gutted!!
