tablet problem

    Hello all.I have a Samsung tablet 3 which never gave me an ounce of bother.I kept getting messages to update operating system which I ignored.
    I eventually updated it and the tablet went into a loop and died.
    I brought it to techstar to get checked out.
    They tried new battery and attempted data recovery but said Odin and kies software gave errors which would indicate memory chip fault.
    They said they could also not reinstall software.
    I am totally peeved as I have photos and books on tablet.Is there anyway at all to recover data.
    It worked fine until system update.Do I have any recourse with Samsung as they were pushing for system update.
