Brazil entry requirements (less than 90 days)

Hi everyone, I'm traveling to Brazil for less than 90 days and staying with someone I know there.

I have two questions, for someone who has been in a similar situation only- I have checked all the material online and phoned the embassy and federal police- with no luck.

    1. I need 'evidence of sufficient funds'. Roughly how much per day is sufficient to the authorities?

    2. I need details of accommodation. Does my host (who is not a hotel/hostel etc) need to write me a letter AND have it recognised by the police/government in Brazil?

    Many thanks!

I have been there a couple of times over the last few years. I didn't know anything about sufficient 'funds'.
All I had was my accommodation booking. It wasn't asked for.
You must ensure that your passport has something like at least 6 months left on it at your planned return date. Not arrival date.
The tripadvisor forums would give you far more info.

Its good to have any paperwork required but I've never shared anything beyond hello + thanks with the officials in Brazil.

Note they do have exit checks so DO NOT overstay as you will be caught at the border

Plan on having 25-50 USD/day depending on where you are going. Have name, address, phone, email of the person(s) you are staying with and a confirmed air ticket out of Brazil.

If you are heading beyond Rio/Sao Paulo be sure to get the Yellow Fever vaccination at least 2 weeks before travel and have the yellow book with the stamps in it.
