Doing Construction studies outside school

Is Construction studies a subject you can do outside school or do you have to have done it in school with projects etc under the supervision of a teacher? Thanks

There's a practical element to Construction Studies that a teacher has to sign off on to say it's your own work.

Neither of those subjects are offered in his school unfortunately.
