An very elderly lady friend of mine recently purchased a new Picanto. She traded a 07 banger against it. Does anybody know if she would have qualified for the scrappage scheme?

Were Kia offering a guaranteed price for trade ins against the picanto?

Scrappage is basically a guaranteed value they will give you for your car.
Some car manufacturers do it some don't depending on the offers they are giving.

I haven't seen Kia do that much on their own cars tho.

I don't know if they offered anything, i only saw she had changed her car when i visited recently...she didn't know what a scrappage deal was. I'm just wondering if they may have pulled a fast one on an vulnerable person.Hopefully not.

Was the dealership offering a scrappage deal? No such thing as government funded scrappage deal for a long time.
    Can you define '07 banger'?
Best way to look at this... how much did it cost her to change?

07 banger, a small ford, she is the worst driver I have ever come across and her car proved it, with very deep tears in the sides and broken mirrors, dents front and rear...

They gave her €1000 for her own car.

It kind of sounds like they took the car for free. Now the price would have been agreed between them and making her feel ripped off won't help her at this stage.

Nobody has said anything to her about it. Only the q came up and I thought here would be a good place to find out. Thanks for all the replies.
