Bosses are a peculiar breed

Are all bosses narcissistic, self- obsessed and sociopathic? Many seem to lack human emotion and be quite two-faced. I've noticed a lot of them are quite vain. They seem to have their own interests at heart when it boils down to it. They seem to be publicly in favour of the "common good," while privately feathering their own nests.

@Johngoose - what is the Personal Issue here? Otherwise, I'm going to have to close the thread?

I'd say this goes for the vast majority of employees also and people in general.

It's not an exclusive trait to "management"

A bosses job is to get as much out of you as possible but cost the company as little as possible , be that by cutting overtime, hounding you about breaks, toilet breaks, days off, wages, time wasting etc.

Saying that though you catch more flies with honey than viniger

It might be a company culture. Those who are perceived to have the drive to be bosses are also less likely to be empathic. That is not to say that decent people have not achieved management positions, but when faced with the pressures from the company and less scurpleless peers, then usually they do not rise far.
