Seed is dead on roughly 3 out of 8 acres. Can I Harrow and reseed the 3 and get away with it. Contractor wants to kill the 8 reseed the whole lot.

Just overseed the 3 acres And fence it off for a while.

Yeah overseed the whole field then. No need to spray off and use only 8kg per acre and roll it in.

Will that work on grass that is already growing fine? Seems like a waste to drill good ground

Your not drilling it only harrowing it. You won't be able to pull up healthy established grass. Well shouldn't anyways. No different than harrowing your grasslands in the spring and autumn

Am I reading the thread right. Have you dead patches all over the field killed with glycophosphate or has the contractor sprayed off the entire thing already because of the patches.

Reggie is saying that the healthy established grass surrounding the patches won't be pulled up.

    Accidentally killed it in patches

How far apart are the patches. Can they be confined to say half the field or what

I read it as the field was reseeded, and some patches didn't come?

And now the OP is wondering whether to reseed the entire field or not...

If this is the case, then it depends on how young the other grass is, as I'd be afraid the harrow might pull some of the new reseed up...
How strong would the grass need to be in this case?

But, I'm not 100% what the situation for the OP is... I might be reading it wrong...

EDIT : I only spotted the 'accidentally sprayed' comment now... so I don't think I am right in what I said above, so I really have no clue what's going on...

Did you spray the whole field with the one tank of roundup?
Or was it just in the pipes from spraying somewhere else before and not rinsed out before who ever sprayed this?
You said the contractor said to redo the whole thing so it sounds like the contractor is taking responsibility for this??

Spot spraying the field with roundup instead of grazon 90?

Let him reseed the whole lot, obviously at his expense.

Waste of time. Get a lad with a guttler seed drill He should be able to do the patches , make sure to put slug pellets in with the seed. Reseed patches, graze 10-15 days later to take grass off rest of field. Graze it ever 12-16 days until grass takes off in bare patches. You will need to put fertlizer by hand on bare patches and not fertlizer the rest of the field.

    Maybe I spoke wrong here.
Who accidentally killed the field, yourself or tie contractor ??

If it was yourself I'd go with Reggie and scratch in seed.
