OI once bought a Hilux surf off a guy just outside Liverpool on ebay - worked out fine but it had a good service history

I bought a Golf GTI from a guy in Taunton about 8 years ago. The transaction went very smooth and car was immaculate.

HPI is a must before purchasing.

I bid and won an mg b with soft top and hardtop about 5 years ago seller said it was running perfectly and the soft top was perfect.I was pushing him towards meeting me at his local train station but he kept batting my request away, this made me suspicious.Turns out the front brakes were seized and there was a huge hole in the soft top.

    Buyer be very aware!!!

Also bid and won a 1980 Porsche 911 about 6 months before that, seller again said it was perfect.I arrived at his house about an hour early to collect it,I noticed his garage was lined with some new cardboard boxes, that set me off.Car had a very bad oil leak, still sorry I didn't buy it,looking at the money they are changing hands for,?3700 I think it was I won it for.But the major concern was it leaving me stranded on the way to the ferry port.

Bought two Daihatsu Fourtraks, a Mercedes W124 saloon and Mercedes W123 Coupe from eBay.co.uk. over ten years or so, plus a camper from German eBay.
All were exactly as described, and good value. All from private sellers.
    Would do so again.
None of the cars cost over 3500 euro.

Won at auction 350quid Mk4 vw golf v6 4motion a couple of years ago , was a bit skeptical traveling over(Glasgow)as the guy I was buying off had a scrapyard and said it was too good to break .

When I collected the car it was in pristine condition was half expecting it to blow up on the way home .

New brake pads and a service when I got home and never had and ounce of bother with it.sorry I ever sold it now.

Bought a few cars on e-bay. Were always as described and would do again.

Latest was an 2010 Outlander in January. Described as having an issue with the Turbo occasionally failing. Took a chance and bought it cheap. Or to be more accurate, put in a low bit not remotely expecting to win..... and was surprised when I did.

Brought it in and registered it. Tried a few easy fixes with the Turbo none of which worked untill eventually replaced it a few weeks ago. Flying it since with the new Turbo.

No complaints as the buyer was up front RE the problem. In general you will get a good feel for the seller from their feedback. If they are a dealer, they are usually very protective of their feedback and will go out of the way not to get a bad score. If it is a private sale, you will normally get a good idea of what they are like by looking at what they have bought and sold over the years.

Buying from a new seller with Zero feedback is taking a big chance.
