What now for Donegal?

Sunday's match was heart breaking to watch! It reminded me of pre-2011 years. If they beat Longford on 1st July I have a feeling that is as far as they'll get this year. Rory needs to go, we haven't won anything under him, bring back Jim!

Harsh , they're a team in transition. He needs to be given time, these things go in cycles.
Other then Kerry no team can lose as many players and carry on as before.

The game has moved on from McGuinness as Tyrone proved at the weekend.
McGuiness should stop sniping from the side-lines as well, its not helping Donegal and seems to be more about building his own "brand".

Its the end. It will be at least another few weeks until they win again.
I think time for a new manager and bring in someone right.
Need to send all that team out to the Junior B setup.

I agree but it needs to be someone who will give the team belief in themselves again, confidence unfortunately now is a factor here too. I think Rory has little or no connection with the players, it's sticks out like a sore thumb! All you have to do is look at the number of players who left the panal McLoone, MacNiallais, Thompson! something isn't right.

Its obvious the players don't believe in the manager. Whether thats his fault (not knowing what he's doing) or their fault I don't know but there's a breakdown somewhere. In all cases like that the manager needs to go.

I have to say i'm baffled by the constant chat about tactics though. McGuiness's team were a tactical masterclass because everyone believed in what they were doing. They attacked everything with tremendous energy. Gallagher might have a similar masterplan but when players are either half arseing it or don't fully believe in what their doing any plan is greatly undermined. Too many players (off the ball) stand still in attack and defence for Donegal. They were outworked by Tyrone.

It's obvious to me Donegal just have a very young side. There's no need to over-react to one result or one year, because that's exactly how you don't develop a team. It takes years.

Donegal have an AI title in the last five years - perhaps the most brilliant AI victory since Offaly stopped Kerry's five-in-a-row at that.

Appreciate the high notes that were reached, don't be angry the melody is falling.
