The likes of eir/Sky/Vodafone will be entirely dependant on the line coming into your house and how far it is from a cabinet, whether the cabinet is fibre. There is no real best between them as there are so many variables.

If Virgin is available at your address, you're pretty much guaranteed that you can get 240/360mb speeds. It isn't distance sensitive and it'll either work or it won't. This comes in on a TV style cable as opposed to the phone line.

If you're using the landline a lot, or even a bit, it makes sense to get a package that covers unlimited landlines and mobiles. Virgin do a 240mb package that will cover this. They also don't have a fair usage cap, which a lot of competitors do.

If virgin is available, I'd get that.

They're doing that package with a tv package for €49 a month for 12 months on a 12 month contract.
You can get it without the to package for €35 for 12 months.
You can also get a €50 voucher because you're on Boards. Not certain how that works but the talk to: forum has details.

    More information required

    Where are you located?
Do you have a phoneline to the house?
Do you have a cable connection to the house?

What does this indicate for your eircode - http://fibrerollout.ie/

240 is their standard speed. You connect the modem to the UPC cable that you mentioned.
