The central metro station in Brussels has been evacuated after a huge "blast" was reported. Belgian police say they are trying to get the situation under control and are warning people to stay away from the area.

Does every breaking news post start now with 0 information, but rather act as a placeholder for the poster to be "first to post"

like the London Fire one- nothing of note in the OP

Breaking news is broken at the end
In March 2016, 32 people died in attacks on Brussels airport and the metro system which were claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.

    I am just sad.

The people who do this lack every form of reason.

We might be immune to it all by now, if we are not on site.

Hence the lack of reaction. But if it happened in Grafton Street.....

Thank God that these Sucide Bombers seem have hard time trying to blow up things and thankfully the authorities seem be very quick to get these culprits.

/\ That thought struck me, the cops seem to be just deciding to shoot on sight now.

I seen the London attack on Twitter and posted the thread to let other know it had happened, this was 30 mins before sky news at al were reporting it.

Not everyone is watching news/twitter/social media sites.

I knew nothing of this Brussels incident until I seen this thread. This may come as a shock to you but people like to be informed of incidents as they break.

You could always not open a thread until 2 or 3 days after an incident then you won't have to worry about lack of info in the op

wow, european police forces seem to be amazingly fast of late at neutralising terrorists. Absolutely amazing job again.

I was in Brussels a couple of months after the last attack. Security was pretty heavy, and thank jaysis for those tooled up police lads.

Shoot on sight. Ask questions later.

Why do police forces use the euphemism 'neutralise'?

So you didnt wait for confirmation, do you post most things you see on Twitter? Has Nicolas Cage died (again)?

Without any detail I don't see the value is posting. I don't go to boards for breaking news, especially not After Hours!

Multiple reports, pictures and video's posted before the media started reporting, yeah maybe it's not really happening until Kay Burley is on scene

What a strange argument. Something happened, someone opened a thread to discuss it, so what? If you don't want to read about it don't click on the thread and most certainly don't comment in it as you'll get notifications.

Looks like another flute has had his plans scuppered. Good.

    Sounds better probably.
I suppose to say you train your law enforcement agencies to kill sounds harsh, to say you train them to neutralise a threat to law abiding citizens would be much more acceptable really.
I d guess any way a suspect is apprehended and safety put back in place, including killing the offender is neutralising the threat.
    Just my take.

No doctor etc to pronounce death. Could perhaps be incapacitated rather than actually dead.

Is there not a discussion going on? At least there would be a better one without this kind of inane chatter.

Didn't work out too well on the case of Jean Charles de Menezes. Hopefully they were better informed and less trigger happy in this situation.

I'm actually surprised that the number of these attacks is so "low" given the basic nature of what is required.

If you dont like the thread you could just not read it. You know like a normal person? I mean I dont follow wrestling so I dont read those threads. I dont go on criticising people for posting wrestling threads. Maybe AH isn't for you? You seem to fail to understand how discussion forums work. Not every thread is compulsary.
